I do not see Mr. Sayama’s drawings as a sculptor’s. Gazing at his works, I feel his originality in them.
There is no hesitation, feelers nor ambiguity in his works. The tension which suddenly starts with verve silently moves over the paper. The thick black lines look as if a pencil gouged the white paper, and drew steady simple forms.
His drawings are voluminous, and vivid, giving a feeling of movement.
In the movement of each line and uneven color, it is possible to see the attractiveness of his naïve and pure sense, his unsettled mind due to having a female model in front of him. Understanding this, I would like you to enjoy his works.
